A little bit about me

I was born in 1974, Ankara. After completing my studies in the year 1998 - Istanbul University Faculty Of Communication, I attended the Film Making Certification Program in New York Film Academy.

In the beginning of 2000’s I have started my career in Australia, as an assistant for a project that took place for 6 months. The focus of the project was to shoot surfers with 16mm cameras. After my first project,  I have continued my career as a camera and light assistant in my hometown. Years of learning led me to start my professional freelancer career in 2006.

In the era of negative cameras, I have climbed my way up working for features and TV commercials working as the 3rd Assistant, loader and the focus puller. While working as a camera assistant, my passion led me to learn more about the grip equipments and starting from 2007 I have focused on steadicam operating skills. I was lucky enough to train and work on the projects with the most experienced steadicam operators in Turkey.

When digital cameras became popular, it was a chance for me to practice and develop my camera operating skills and educate myself deeper. Thanks to my passion for diving and the Advanced Diver Certificate, I was able to take part of bringing together the first professional Turkish underwater camera crew.

When the technological developements improved the stabilizer equipments big time, I saw the potential of more compact and practical stabilizers, which led me working with Gimball equipments. Since 2015, I have been focused on working with different Gimball brands, improving my deep knowledge on Gimball techniques and rigging.

2017 is the year when I finally matured all my knowledge and was invited to “Underwater Camera Operator Workshop” which was organized by the “Society of Camera Operators” and “Hydroflex” located in Los Angeles, California, USA. At this workshop, I was lucky enough to work with Pete Romano A.S.C.
